The Problem
The university was scanning the documents into PDF format using existing scanners and multifunction devices at their location and providing these to the service provider for indexing. The university needed a solution for securing and accessing these documents during the transition to a new internal payroll system that was going to take months to deploy. The university scans documents; the service provider indexes them with pertinent information such as name, department, ID number and others. Then, on a daily basis PaperHost picks up the images and the metadata from a secure FTP site, merges the images together with the metadata and places them on PaperHost.
